Barnsley based employer Niftylift Ltd has just signed up for its third consecutive apprenticeship intake with the Catcliffe-based centre, which is part of the University of Sheffield.

The collaboration between the two organisations has already seen several engineering apprentices enrol onto programmes with a high level of success and impact. Based on the previous triumphs Niftylift has taken the opportunity to increase recruitment for the latest allocation.

The Barnsley employer, based at Hoyland Common Industrial Estate, which is the UK’s largest independent suppliers of Mobile Elevated Working Platforms, is offering apprenticeships in: Welding and Fabrication, Quality Inspection, Business Administration and Degree Apprenticeships in Design.

Dave Tuckwood, Production Engineering Manager at Niftylift Ltd, said: “In line with our Business Development Strategy we are increasing the intake of local apprentices from five in 2016 to 10 in 2017 to ensure we continue to grow and improve our manufacturing and engineering team.

“One of the key factors influencing the decision for this increase is the high calibre of the apprentices we have employed in the last two years. Not only have their skills surpassed our expectation their attitude and commitment to their individual roles has been extremely encouraging.

“This is largely due to our training partners at the AMRC. The professionalism of their staff and the training facility provide an excellent environment to nurture the skills we require to continue our growth targets.”

He added: “At a time when employers in the South Yorkshire region are trying to find the skills for growth and consolidation, we have established a partnership with, what Niftylift Ltd (Hoyland) consider to be the best training provider in our region, the AMRC.”

Dan Swift, Programme Manager at the AMRC Training Centre, said: “Having Niftylift on board for a third consecutive year is fantastic news for the AMRC Training Centre. The relationship has grown from strength to strength and is reflected in the increased apprenticeship numbers from Niftylift every year.

“This year’s vacancies from Niftylift offer a huge amount of different opportunities for all levels of the academic ladder from level 2 and 3 qualifications to the Foundation Degree in Manufacturing Technologies Degree Apprenticeship.

“Having such a variety of apprenticeships across one intake isn’t common. We anticipate a lot of interest from young people from the surrounding areas over the next few weeks.”

Niftylift apprentices are expected to start their programmes with the AMRC Training Centre during the training providers July and September 2017 intake, meaning recruitment for the roles will start with immediate effect.
