NIKKEN
Published on 21/10/2024NIKKEN is a globally reaching engineering firm spanning 70 countries across three continents including a European innovation centre adjacent to the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Rotherham.
The company currently hires apprentices on a three-year cycle with two or three per cohort. They have engaged proactively with the AMRC Training Centre since its inception and have welcomed over 10 apprentices into their operations.
NIKKEN has praised the quality pool of students that the AMRC Training Centre allows the business access to, highlighting this as a key factor for incentivising the adoption of an exclusive training scheme in a company that hadn’t previously actively recruited trainees.
In addition, the volume of potential candidates allows them to hand-pick the most suitable entrants into the business. This quality now shines throughout the business, with graduates shadowing staff at the director level in the hope of following into that position in the near future.
The team at NIKKEN are keen to encourage partners to take up apprentices from the AMRC Training Centre scheme and emphasise the importance of creating a network throughout the supply chain that takes advantage of the quality talent available. They also expressed their good fortune at their proximity to the training centre allowing for increased engagement with apprentices throughout their training.
“It’s one of the key benefits of the AMRC Training Centre is that NIKKEN’s, our partners, customers, and suppliers trainees can all learn alongside each other and develop a broad-reaching network for their careers.” – Nathan Ray, Deputy Managing Director, NIKKEN.
