The AMRC Training Centre is holding an open day for young people interested in starting a career in engineering.

The open day event on Tuesday, February 21 will offer the chance to find out more about apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships with positions available to start as early as March. (2017)

Visitors will be able to tour the Training Centre and talk to current apprentices and trainers about the exciting opportunities available to them, right on their door step.

AMRC Training Centre programme manager, Dan Swift, said: “By holding an recruitment event in March it enables young people who perhaps now realise that the further education path they have chosen doesn’t suit their style of learning and would now like to consider an alternative education route.

“We work with a large number of companies of varying sizes and recruiting traditional academic time frame isn’t right for all of them.”

The employer led apprenticeships offered via the AMRC Training Centre which commence in March cover subject disciplines in areas such as: Mechanical Maintenance, Design, Machining, Electrical Maintenance and Welding which could lead on to further university studies.

Dan added: “An apprenticeship via the AMRC Training Centre enables young people to climb up the academic ladder and earn while they learn without the burden of student debt, whilst gaining valuable on the job experience within the engineering / manufacturing sector.

The open day is on from 9.30am to 6.30pm. To book a place contact Vicky Cardwell Sung on 0114 2224445 or email p.sung@amrc.co.uk.
