Vericut-CG Tech are looking for a technical support apprentice to complete a level 3 Engineering & Manufacturing Support Technician apprenticeship. Our business is continuing to grow, and following a three-year Advanced Apprenticeship at the AMRC Training Centre through block study and then day release, you will join our Technical team, supporting worldwide clients in their adoption and daily use of our Vericut solutions.

Role & responsibilities:

  • Programming machine tools to create precision, high value prototypes for customers
  • Using offline CAD/CAM packages with data taken from technical drawings
  • Producing finished and semi-finished parts to stated tolerances
  • Creating and delivering machining demonstrations to customers and partners
  • Creating technical drawings using 3D CAD packages
  • Creating and developing digital twin projects – visiting customers to collect data where necessary
  • Supporting existing customers with technical queries
  • Assisting with software training for customers/partners
  • Taking part in presentations and demonstrations
  • Machining process optimisation, analysis, and testing
  • Reading and interpreting relevant engineering data and documentation
  • Spending time with the sales and marketing teams to learn how the company works as a whole

Employer description:

CGTech offers independent CNC simulation software to many of the top manufactures using CNC machinery. Established in 1988, with 11 offices and approximately 200 employees worldwide. All of our products are developed in-house by CGTech engineers, with our main software product, VERICUT, becoming the industry standard in CNC simulation. As CGTech is now part of the Sandvik Group, this will open many more possibilities for the career progression of our apprentices.

Things to consider:

During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Qualification Requirements:

Advanced Apprenticeships entry requirements

You will need both of the following:

  • GCSE English language C or 4 or above
  • GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.

Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
