Sheffield Forgemasters Engineering Limited are looking for an Apprentice Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician to complete a Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Technician apprenticeship and join their team. The successful candidate will ensure that all site-wide equipment and machinery is operational and well maintained. The candidate will also be required to undertake both reactive and preventative maintenance and repair to a wide range of plant and equipment in a modern steel production facility operating with both new and aging plant.

Role & responsibilities:

  • Equipment and plant breakdowns and corrective actions
  • Planned, Preventative and Predictive Maintenance
  • Equipment condition appraisal, refurbishment and continuous improvement activity implementation
  • Responsible for maintaining the required standards of housekeeping
  • Work closely with the Maintenance supervisor to ensure the planning of maintenance work within the department is conducted correctly
  • Read and interpret relevant data and documentation used to maintain components, equipment and systems
  • Contribute to the business by identifying possible opportunities for improving working practices, processes and/or procedures
  • Carrying out confirmation testing and subsequent smooth hand over of equipment & plant support the installation, testing and commissioning of equipment (where applicable)
  • To adhere to Health and Safety rules and regulations

We offer a variety of apprenticeships in Maintenance, Technical, Production and Office Based roles.

Things to consider:

During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study.  You will return to your workplace one Friday per month.  After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Advanced Apprenticeships entry requirements

You will need both of the following:

  • GCSE English language C or 4 or above
  • GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.

Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
