Go Tools Ltd are looking for a General factory apprentice to complete a Level 3 Machining technician apprenticeship. The candidate will be responsible for the manufacture, repair & modification of tooling (plastic injection & Zinc die cast tools) in line with customer requirements to support business objectives. The candidate will work on multiple phases or sub-tasks of the project using various machinery onsite.

Role & responsibilities

  • Manual machining – Milling, surface grinding, cylindrical grinding, Radial Arm drill
  • CNC machining / programming – 3 axis & 5 axis machines, CNC Lathes
  • EDM – spark erosion & wire erosion
  • Read, understand & interpret Engineering drawings correctly
  • Occasional problem solving, repair, maintenance, and modification of existing tools
  • Comply with all process work instructions, control plans, maintenance, and safety schedules
  • Ensure that your work area(s) are always kept clean and tidy
  • Final assembly activities and processes for new tooling
  • Comply with all corporate and local site Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Good PC skills
  • Use of all measuring equipment & CMM’s

Things to consider:

During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Qualification Requirements:

Advanced Apprenticeships entry requirements

You will need both of the following:

  • GCSE English language C or 4 or above
  • GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.

Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
